Fugen Neziroglu, Ph.D. – President
Dr. Fugen Neziroglu is co-founder and clinical director of Bio Behavioral Institute in Great Neck, New York. She received her Ph.D. in clinical, school-community psychology from Hofstra University and completed her post-graduate work in behavior and cognitive therapy at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is on the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Obsessive Compulsive Foundation and has devoted her career to the research and treatment of OCD and spectrum disorders. She has presented and published over 100 papers in scientific journals and is the author and co-author of 14 books on obsessive compulsive spectrum disorders.
Steven Poskar, M.D. – Vice President
Dr. Steven Poskar completed his psychiatric training at Montefiore Medical Center where he went on to complete a research fellowship at the Compulsive, Impulsive, and Autism Spectrum Disorder Program. He is a member of the International OCD Foundation’s Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Hoarding and Autism Spectrum Disorder Special Interest Groups. Dr. Poskar recently authored the chapter “Subtypes and Spectrum Issues” in the World Psychiatric Associations book “Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Current Science and Clinical Practice” In his practice, he specializes in OCD spectrum disorders as well as high functioning Autism Spectrum disorders.
Sony Khemlani-Patel, Ph.D. – Secretary
Dr. Sony Khemlani-Patel is a licensed psychologist and Administrator at the Bio Behavioral Institute in Great Neck, NY specializing in the treatment and research of obsessive compulsive spectrum disorders. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical School Psychology from Hofstra University. In addition to providing direct clinical care, Dr. Khemlani also supervises psychology interns and participates in research projects. She is a member of the International OCD Foundation’s Body Dysmorphic Disorder Special Interest Group. She has presented and published extensively on OC Spectrum disorders, with a special interest in body dysmorphic disorder. She has co-authored two books.
Scott Sokolow – Treasurer
Scott Sokolow is a parent and long time advocate for children with OCD. He teaches parents how to get the best possible education for their child by informing them of available academic services and support within the schools. He is a Director of the Locust Valley Special Education Parent Teachers Association (SEPTA) in Long Island.
